Conversion Tools for Biota 2 Data Files

If you have been a Biota 2 user, and you want to try out a Biota 2 Data File under Biota 3, be certain to open a copy of the Biota 1 Data File in case of problems.

Conversion to Biota 3 Data File format is permanent, and cannot be undone.

In most cases the conversion goes smoothly simply by opening the Biota 2 Data File with Biota 3. It that fails, take these steps:

  1. If you are using any version of Biota 2 prior to 2.04, download Biota 2.04 for your platform (Windows or Mac) and open the file.
  2. Quit Biota 2.04.
  3. Download 4D Tools 6.8 for your platform:
  4. Open 4D Tools, the Biota 2.04, then your Data File and follow the instructions in the Biota Manual, Appendix 1, Pages 1-8.
