How Downloading
Authorization Works
You send in your Biota Registration card to Sinauer
Associates. Periodically, Sinauer forwards Colwell a list of
all registered users and Colwell updates the User Database
at the Biota Website.
If your name and Registration Number are not accepted
when you attempt to download from this page, it means your
card has not arrived at Sinauer, and/or they have not yet
sent Colwell your name and number, and/or Colwell has not
yet added it to the Web server password database.
If this happens, you may fax Colwell a copy of your
completed Registration Card at 860-486-6364, and swear on a
stack of cyberbibles that you will send the card in.
(Otherwise, future mailed updates will not reach you.) If
you have lost your registration card, please email colwell@uconnvm.uconn.edu.
Instructions for Password
Access
- Click on the link in the next section of the page for
the Biota flavor you have registered.
- When the password query appears, enter your last name
(surname, with ordinary capitalization...names are
case-sensitive), one space character, and your Biota
Registration Number in the Name entry area.
- Enter your Biota Registration Number in the Password
entry area.
- Click OK.
Here is an example (Netscape); the Password entry is
"1859" (no quotes):
Notes
If you have registered either flavor of BiotaApp for
Mac OS (the PPC Mac 68xxx flavors) you can download the
other at no charge.
If you have registered either flavor of BiotaApp for
Windows (the Pentium or 386/486 flavors) you can download
the other at no charge.
With these exceptions, you may download only the
flavor or flavors you have purchased and
registered.
